[Not very long after their very intimate(?) initiation as an official couple, Hiroto and Reina are at the local pet store. They've been at the local pet store, Reina having planted herself in the cat-adoption section of the store immediately upon arrival. She hasn't moved in at least half an hour, petting and playing with most of the kittens there. However, there's just one kitten she hasn't moved from in about ten minutes now -- in fact, she's sitting in a little caged-off pen with it if Hiroto wanders off and comes back around.
She's very, very focused on this cat. It's half lying in her lap, lazily batting away at a string she's holding above it. It probably is a kitten? Except it's already the size of Koromaru the dog and has about as much fur as Izuno has on his head.
On Reina's face is a little smile, the kind she has when she's doing something that truly makes her happy.]
[Unlike Reina, Hiroto had been taking a little patrol of the vicinity, saying hi to the little parakeets and rabbits, watching the fish in the back room as they swam about their tanks. Reina had left to go look at the cats--he figured that's where she'd be anyway...she always talked about wanting one when they were in Sun Garden, often looking at the strays that often wandered into the courtyard.
He makes his way around the back, the dimly lit room with the fish making a U turn towards the corner of the store where she was located. It wasn't all that hard to find her, honestly. Blue hair wasn't necessarily possessed by normal citizens, and even in imPorts it was one of the more rare.]
...
[And that's when he sees her playing with the cat--if you could even call it that. Had he not taken a second look, he could've sworn that Reina had found herself suddenly fond of a old English sheep dog puppy. But sure enough, it was a cat that could be held like a toddler, laying right across and reaching up to paw at that toy.
The sweatdrop can't help but appear as he walks over. That thing was HUGE.]
[There's nobody around and they're close enough to speak quietly, but the Aliea name sticks as usual when they're in public. Reina looks up from the large cat as she lets him catch the string and start playing a game of tug-of-war with it. That sure is a cat. That sure is a cat large enough it looks like it's swallowed up her legs, and that sure is the look Reina always had when she was in love with something but trying very, very hard to contain her reaction.]
... He was different from the rest. It reminded me of Izuno.
[He knows that look. It wasn't one Reina had on her face too often--years at Aliea had made it more rare, but it's instantly recognizable from the way her blue eyes look up at him, glinting with the tiniest bit of white.
He knew immediately. He knew immediately that she wanted this creature. Hiroto couldn't even call it a cat--it was too large, but not large enough to be a lion.]
I have a request. Would you mind if I invited Kagerou to live with us? He's a friend of mine who doesn't seem interested in living in his assigned housing.
He'd talked things over with Genda pretty much immediately after his arrival, but acting on it took a little longer. While he'd been quick to name Gran as a candidate to help with their experimenting, stating he trusts his friend is not the same as getting him to agree to help.
It's not the kind of thing he wants to ask over a text, either, so he waits instead, thinking over his preferred approach all the next day and arriving to school with a mission. Amada and Gran. Those are his targets.
The chance to get Gran somewhere people won't be listening in comes soon enough. As luck has it, they happen to share a study hall together, and no one cares if there's talking, leaving a general buzz of conversation to make all chatter indistinct. It'll do. He picks a spot next to his friend and pulls out some math to place in front of him; it'd be nice to end up with less homework, but it's not particularly challenging. Usually, he'd just work on it quietly, but today he has to postpone that. Before starting in, Kidou pulls out his communicator, switching off the translation function and putting it back away as if the action is routine.
While on the field Kidou has no problem giving orders and asking things of people, in general he tends to ask as little as possible of anyone. Doing so is always a significant deal for him, best reserved for moments like this.
If there's anyone he trusts here... it would be this guy.]
[Kidou wasn't one to usually break the silence of a study hall. In fact, Gran was usually the one to initiate the conversation, but this time, it's Kidou who's the ice breaker. And more importantly, switching to complete Japanese. His eyes glint, his eyebrows raise, and he's soon staring right into his friend's goggled view, ready and listening.]
A request...
[Kidou had switched the language to keep this private, hadn't he. There's a soft, nonchalant turn of the page of the book he was reading, smiling to himself.]
[After he's made eye contact, Kidou drops his gaze towards his paper, playing nonchalant as possible so as to try to avoid drawing attention. He speaks quietly in a language he's certain no one else around them speaks.
It's not quite correct to indicate that everything's okay - he couldn't just say 'yes' without it being dishonest - but any issues to smooth out are best kept between him and Genda. This is a step towards that goal, one of many.]
[He turns the page, feigning reading more than anything. It wasn't anything he couldn't go over once more at home, really. And whatever Kidou had to talk to him about, good or bad...he was going to listen.]
He's a friend of yours, right? From Teikoku Academy?

Have you talked to Ulvida?
[Gran is easy mode when it comes to permission--Ulvida? She's a bit of a harder egg to crack.]

Is everything okay, Kidou-kun?
